Reasons to holiday in Devon

With miles upon miles of countryside to explore, quaint towns to discover and a breadth of activities for all the family, it is no surprise that Devon is one of the UK’s most popular getaway destinations.

Staycations have exploded in recent years – with more Brits choosing a domestic holiday over travelling abroad. With so many options available though, it can be difficult to know where the best UK holiday destinations are. So we’re here to give you 6 reasons to book a Devon getaway this year.

Whatever the weather, you can always find something to do at the seaside. You’ll love exploring our local seaside towns – sand, pebbles, traditional amusements, great independent shops, ice cream, play areas, museums, water sports, cafes, restaurants and pubs.

Forest Glade holiday park is perfectly situated to explore a range of local beaches. One of our favourite things about Devon is that each beach is special – offering something slightly unique.

We think Branscombe Beach is perfect for a family day out! Here, you’ll find a range of excellent walks and unrivalled views. The shingle beach makes for clear water.  Just along the coast at Beer, a traditional fishing village, you can enjoy mackerel fishing trips, great cafés and friendly pubs.

Just down the road from Branscombe is Sidmouth, which boasts two beaches: the main beach and Jacob’s Ladder – each boast sand and pebbles, and large car parks.

We also have Exmouth, Dawlish Warren and Lyme Regis within a 45-minute drive of Forest Glade, as well as more to explore.

If you enjoy water sports several of our local seaside towns offer water sports hire and lessons.  Or why not take a day trip to the popular surfing beaches of North Devon.
