What’s On in Devon Easter 2026?

Traditionally, some communities in the South West held Easter bonnet parades, where participants would wear elaborately decorated hats or bonnets adorned with flowers, ribbons, and other decorations. These parades often involved a procession through the town or village, with prizes awarded for the most creative or impressive bonnets. This year, the Lyme Regis Easter Bonnet Parade is keeping that tradition alive. You’re invited to take part in the parade or just come along and watch the colourful spectacle of entrants parading their imaginative creations.

The Easter Bonnet Parade for 2026 will be held on Sunday 5th April!

Knightshayes Easter Egg Hunt takes place between 28 March and 19 April and gives you the opportunity to explore the beautiful gardens of this stately home, near Tiverton. Spring lambs are often to be seen gambolling about in the grounds at the front of the house. Grab your trail pack from the visitor reception at the start of your visit.

“Eggs marks the spot” in Crealy Theme Park’s Easter events, running between 3 and 19 April. The park boasts over 60 rides and attractions and has been a family favourite since 1989. There are outdoor rides and attractions and huge indoor play areas, making Crealy an ideal day out in any weather.

Forde Abbey and Gardens have an Easter Trail running between 28 March and 9 April. Forde Abbey is a popular destination in the neighbouring county of Dorset for families, garden lovers and historians. Highlights include the abbey with its 900 year history and beautiful gardens.

Join in with the Easter fun at Hestercombe Gardens. There’s an Easter bunny trail through the gardens and Easter crafts in the house.

Seaton Tramway welcomes dogs and operates narrow gauge heritage trams between Seaton and Colyton. A fun and unique way to enjoy the gorgeous Axe Valley. Hop aboard the Story Tram on 10th April! Enjoy a story time adventure for little ones this year on the Seaton Tramway – perfect for pre-schoolers ages 4 and under. Enjoy a themed storybook reading with music on your tram adventure, followed by another special story and activities at Colyton Station.

National Trust Killerton promises Easter Adventure this year – a trail with fun-filled activities around the gardens and chapel grounds. Their dog-friendly trails will run from 27 March – 19 April (be aware, there is a chocolate treat at the end, but your pup won’t notice, if you eat it quickly!)

Based near Chard, Ferne Animal Sanctuary provides a peaceful shelter for over 300 animals. On Easter Sunday itself, 5th April, they’re holding their Spring Festival. The Sanctuary is a great place to visit with plenty to see and do for adults and children, as well as a cafe.

The Donkey Sanctuary at Sidmouth is one of our favourites. It’s free to enter (donations welcome) and there’s always something interesting going on! In a beautiful countryside setting near Sidmouth, the sanctuary has been rescuing donkeys for 50 years.  Read more about the Donkey Sanctuary.

Visit The Big Sheep for Easter Fun on the Farm. One of North Devon’s Top Family Attractions, it is about 1.25 hour’s drive from the park but well worth it for a day out.

Pennywell Farm in South Devon has lots of Easter activities to choose from, all included in the entry price.

Tiverton Museum of Mid Devon Life is a wonderful family attraction any time of year. They have a wide-ranging, eclectic mix of exhibits and memorabilia drawn from the social and working lives of local people throughout history. There will be Easter activities and it’s an ideal rainy day destination.

With Easter coinciding with the arrival of spring, it’s a great time to take advantage of the seasonal weather to get outdoors. Go for a walk in the Blackdown Hills, or explore our favourite spring walks in Devon –  make up a picnic with produce from one of our local food and drink producers, or simply enjoy a stroll on park to take in the sights and sounds of nature.
